Dry Or Cracked Skin? Goat Milk To The Rescue!

by Adam Newton-Bogue

Dry Or Cracked Skin? Goat Milk To The Rescue!

If you’re prone to dry winter skin or painful cracks it can make it an unpleasant time of the year. We said it before, stay away from harsh chemicals and synthetic fragrance or dyes in any bath products. The best bath products for dry skin are goat milk soap & lotion! They will keep your skin soft and hydrated all season long. Freezing outside and heaters cranked up inside combine to create tough conditions for your skin. We want our skin healthy, soft and supple, they key is to stop cracks from even beginning to develop.  Winter is Hard on Our Skin! The right winter skincare essentials is paramount! We created a special organic goat milk soap called the Mountaineer geared for those battling harsh skin conditions. The Bespoke No.38 Mountaineer Blend goat milk soap- Essential Oils of Juniper & Frankincense join Bentonite & Kaolin Clays to heal the skin, balance natural oils and reduce inflammation. Our most elaborate soap to date, it fights cracked & dry skin with additional Essential Oils of Roman Chamomile, Palmarosa, Carrot-seed, Marjoram & Myrrh. Our 12+ organic plant based oil & butters base is joined by super healing Organic Oils of Apricot Kernel, Borage, Rosehips & Tamanu. Bespoke Goat Milk Soap Mountaineer Blend with Kaolin and Bentonite Clay No synthetic dyes or Fragrance in our Goat Milk Soap for dry skin The cold winter air doesn’t hold much moisture, so every time you step outside, the cold pulls hydration from your skin. Inside with the heat cranked up your skin never gets a break. Commercial soaps with synthetic fragrances and dyes strip away your skin’s natural oils and make matters worse. Before no time the flaking, itchiness starts and boom, dry and then cracked hands or feet. The benefits of Clays for skin & health Your skin’s barrier is doing its best to protect you, winter tests it, some natural clays can help balance the oils. Support your natural defenses with nourishing ingredients. Clay, used for centuries in skincare, acts as a natural, magnetic cleanser that draws out impurities, dirt, and bacteria from pores, making it excellent for acne-prone skin. It removes excess oil, reduces shine, exfoliates dead skin cells, and can help improve skin texture, tone, and overall complexion. Diatomaceous Earth has been known to help promote the rebuilding of collagen and we use in a great follow up bar to the Mountaineer and other exfoliators, the Wellness No.33 Anti-Aging blend goat milk soap. A routine with Goat Milk products for Silky Smooth Skin The key is hydration with gentle exfoliation and barrier support. Clean, handmade nontoxic products that build your skin up instead of stripping it down. Another great goat milk soap with diatomaceous earth for this is the Wellness No.32 Detox Blend. Dry and cracked skin doesn’t stand a chance! Wellness detox blend with diatomaceous earth Warm Shower or Bath to Restore Winter Skin  A warmth feels great in winter, good both for comfort and to replenish moisture. When you use any of our goat milk soap for dry skin and cover yourself in the rich, creamy lather infused with nutrient-rich goat milk, your skin gets a boost of natural fats and vitamins. 1. Gentle Exfoliation to Smooth Dry & Cracked Skin A gentle exfoliating once or twice a week helps remove flaky patches so moisture can penetrate better. All goat milk soaps give a light exfoliation but it’s good to step it up 1-2 times a week to get rid of any dry patches. Our No.11 & 12 Gardener or Chef soaps both have scrubbing top halves with moisturizing bottoms and come in gift sets with nail scrubbers too, or the No.29 & 30 Ojai Vibes or Grapeseed have mild throughout. Bespoke Gardener blend goat milk soap giftset with scrubbing top 2. Make sure to get the rough spots Don’t forget your feet, constant boot-wearing, then overnight heated, dry indoor air, add up to cracking and rough heels. The foot, especially the heel could use the extra scrubbing No.13 greasemonkey soap, pumice and cornmeal can scrub that dry callous off to improve circulation. Like everywhere else this will strengthen the skin barrier, your natural moisturizing and increase ability for the soaps and lotion moisture to be absorbed. 3. Nourish & Seal in Moisture The best time to apply moisturizer is right after a shower or bath. While pores are open and skin is still damp apply some goat milk body lotion and lock in a moisture barrier.  It’s the winter and your barrier needs this extra help. Bogue Milk Soap has many of our favorite blends in goat milk lotion like our Organic Palo Santo, Shangri-La, Ojai Vibes or Rejuvenating Goat Milk Lotions. Rich goat milk lotion with essential oils of palo santo and lemon Finally! We’re almost done, don’t let Winter win It’s easy to forget to take care of yourself, also, your skin feels it first. Goat Milk Shaving Soap Benefits: A Better Shave, Naturally

by Adam Newton-Bogue

Goat Milk Shaving Soap Benefits: A Better Shave, Naturally

Matilija Blend with essential oils and bentonite clay with reclaimed horse hair bristle brush and mug Switch from Shaving Aerosol Foams, Creams & Gels Goat milk shaving soap is a natural alternative to shaving creams and foams, offering a rich lather, improved razor glide, and skin-soothing benefits without synthetic chemicals or aerosols. Bogue Milk Soap has three blends of goat milk shaving soap. Available in kits with soap in a mug and a reclaimed horse hair bristle brush in a box, with refills or bars also available. Our shave soap is a nourishing blend of fresh goat milk, olive oil, coconut oil with extra castor for richness. This extra creamy lather is perfect for shaving without synthetic foaming agents or aerosols. BMS makes three blends with added clays to give slip and allow your razor to glide over the skin. Commercial  shaving creams and aerosol foams contain toxins like sulfates and artificial fragrances, we’ve talked about the dangers here, that can irritate skin and harm your health.A much safer, all-natural alternative, used for hundreds of years, is goat milk soap. If you are a  regular shaver, you might enjoy the value of having a shaving soap readily available in the shower. You will never go back once you’ve tried our goat milk shaving soap with organic plant based oils & butters, pure essential oils and natural clay with all the benefits they give. For example: Cleanses while it moisturizes the skin. Heals easily irritated skin with anti-swelling comfrey Removes toxins that can lead to acne breakouts after shaving  Glides safely over skin with rich lather from the goat milk and clays Don’t let the harmful ingredients in commercial foams damage your skin, cause other irritants, then enter your body when your pores are open and vulnerable! Advantages of shaving soap vs Aerosol foams Shave like your grandfather did with shaving soap and natural bristle brush #1 We use Clays & Castor oil for the creamy lather Commercial foams often use Propylene glycol found in brake fluid and antifreeze, and they use mineral oil, a petroleum product, good for sealing cutting boards. It only gets worse if they use other oils like canola, soy, and other “vegetable” oils, likely all GMO. Bogue milk soap uses all natural clays to provide rich creamy lather and provide slip for your razor, furthermore all our soaps have great lather because of the goat milk and the castor oil. #2 Synthetic or Artificial “Fragrance” We keep talking about it and it’s found in shaving creams and more cosmetics than not, misleadingly named fragrance. If you like a strong scent or even a delicate long lasting one a product leaves behind, unfortunately it’s too good to be true, it’s likely synthetic chemicals mixed to mimic a scent and unlabeled. This mix of ingredients, no normal person would have any idea what they are, (a list of more than 3,000 potential compounds found here) can cause  a number of adverse reactions, skin irritation, headaches, respiratory issues, and more. In the US, companies can use the term “fragrance” or “parfum” to hide a variety of toxic chemicals. Designed to help companies protect their “trade secrets”, this term is now a convenient catch-all listing on ingredient labels for all the chemicals a company would rather not tell you is in their product. Bogue Milk Soap uses only pure Essential Oils, pressed or steam distilled, no chemicals used in processing. Moreover, we use a lot of them. #3 Toxins in Aerosols Harmful aerosol products have been used for a long time, like cigarettes we keep using them, but they’re dangerous to your health, not to mention the environment. The propellants used to get the product out of cans are toxic chemicals like butane, xylene and formaldehyde. These are known neurotoxins and carcinogens hazardous to the health of all living in the house. #4 Lathering, foaming and emulsifier chemicals It’s pretty common knowledge that  sodium lauryl sulfate ( SLS), a surfactant, isn’t good for you, unfortunately it’s still found in the majority of soaps, shampoos, and shaving creams. It’s still used in so many bath products because it helps get the foamy state people love. However, research has shown that SLS compounds often mimic estrogen, been known to irritate some peoples skin, and depending on how it’s processed might contain a known carcinogen called ethylene oxide. Triethanolamine, diethanolamine and monoethanolamine (all abbreviated TEA, DEA, MEA),emulsifying agents, help mix liquids and fats. All are known allergen that can cause skin, immune, and respiratory irritation. Bogue Milk Soap uses natural preservatives and emulsifiers like Glycerin, Lecithin, Rosemary and Green Tea extracts. Shaving Soap- Better Than Foams, Creams & Gels Shave Like your Grandfather did! Shaving soap has been around far longer than these toxin filled newcomers. The long history of use dates back to the mid-19th century. Thanks to the thick, creamy lather they produced, they worked just great, and with the clays a much richer, slicker and more moisturizing use than big brand foams! Using the natural bristle shave brush at home makes for a great experience but for travel or in the shower it is easiest to use a shave soap bar. That can of aerosol doesn’t pack well and who wants a rusty can in their shower. This convenience, along with the benefit of cleaning and healing the skin, the potential cost savings all add up to a long list of benefits. Why not, Shave like your grandfather did! Your skin and health are worth the switch. Each of the Bogue Shaving Soap Kits has its own unique essential oil blend and natural clay. Try the No.15 Matilija Blend with Sandalwood EO and Bentonite clay, the No.16 Topa Topa Blend with 6 citrus EO and Rhassoul Clay or the No.17 Chiefs Peak with Cedarwood EO, Kaolin Clay and Activated Charcoal. Handmade in Ojai goat milk shave soap bar For a clean shave use Goat Milk Shave Soap You can use the same soap to wash and shave your face. The bar is great for ladies looking to shave their legs, just rub the bar until a satisfying lather develops. When using the shave soap in a mug with a natural bristle brush it’s best to pre-wet the brush and, time allowing, “prime” the soap with a slight layer of water on top. This will help get the best creamy foam. Next, give a good swirl in the mug till a foam develops and apply to the area to shave. There is no need to exert too much pressure smashing the brush into the soap. This will only damage the brush over time. You should get an amazing lather that’s also healing for the skin. Made with only organic plant based oils, goat milk, natural clays and pure essential oils, trust they won’t harm or irritate even the most sensitive areas. In addition, unlike most commercial bars of soap, it won’t feel slimy and your skin won’t be dry afterwards. All of Bogue Milk Soaps use a unique blend of oils to create a luxurious and nourishing product leaving the skin soft and supple.  Three steps to best shave with goat milk soap Cleanse and Exfoliate your skin Exfoliating before you shave to clear away the dead skin cells that can clog your razor. Especially for a closer shave it can really help to give a once over before. Maybe while priming your shave soap? All goat milk soap is lightly exfoliating, but you may want a touch more, but not too much before a shave. We have a few bars with light exfoliating like the No.27 Oatmeal, No.29 Ojai Vibes, or No.30 Grapeseed. Prime your brush and soap to Shave Now that your skin is clean and smooth, you’re ready. Choose one of our three blends As mentioned above, the quick priming of the brush and soap will help create the best lather. Cover the entire area. Moisturize after Your skin can dry out after shaving, avoid using after-shave creams and moisturizers that contain alcohols, preservatives and other harmful ingredients that can cause irritation. Formulated with a base of goat milk, Almond oil to quickly absorb and shea butter, our lotions are all-natural and deeply nourishing, providing you with all-day hydration. The quick absorbing and moisturizing Bogue Goat Milk Lotions are good for the face and whole body. A few favorites are the No.9 Shangri-La, No.19 Namaste Yoga Blend and No.20 Palo Santo. Goat Milk Soap rich creamy lather that benefits the skin while shaving Live Clean and Healthy with goat milk soap The shaving routine is an important part of our lives, we pass it down through generations. We strive to make it a beneficial part in our overall personal care routine. Most importantly, that all comes down to the products you use. Trade your shaving creams and gels for the thick, nourishing lather that you can get from goat milk shaving soaps. Your skin will thank you! Most important, at BMS we use a unique blend of over twelve organic plant based oils and butters, goat milk, and only pure essential oils. For your body’s Well-being it’s as important what you put ON your body as what you put IN it. That means zero ARTIFICIAL fragrances, dyes or harsh chemicals. Of course, all Ingredients and final product are Never tested on animals. A unique Set of ingredients in our Goat Milk Soap The wonders of Goat’s Milk  A mix of condensed goat milk in distilled water and 25% farm-fresh, raw goat’s milk from many of our local goats that are producing, not from dairy farms. That is where our #farmtobath starts for our Handmade Wellness Products. Learn more about the benefits of goat milk here! Furthermore, the presence of alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) in goat milk soap offers remarkable anti-aging benefits. AHAs gently exfoliate the skin, removing dead cells and promoting the growth of new ones. Moreover, this process helps reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and age spots, providing a natural and subtle anti-aging effect. The gentle cleansing effects will lift impurities effectively without stripping the skin of its natural oils. Therefore, this leads to a brighter complexion and more even skin tone. As seen in our Goat Milk Soap WELLNESS No.33 Anti-Aging Blend With Essential Oils Handmade Wellness Goat Milk Soaps Organic Plant based Oils!  Over 12 oils & butters like Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, Castor, Jojoba, Almond, Apricot, Avocado, Sunflower, Sustainable Palm Oil, Ricebran, Safflower, and Shea Butter. Coconut First, probably the mother of all Wellness oils, nature’s  “fountain of youth”, coconut oil is full of vitamin E and antioxidants. It makes great lather as it moisturizes and soothes while it fights wrinkles. Packed full of nutrients for a healthy body.  Olive Certainly, everyone knows Olive oil has been the star of the culinary world forever, it’s also been used on the skin for centuries. Consequently, it was pivotal in Wellness before it was a thing. Olives have many antioxidants and their rich fruit leave your skin feeling silky smooth. Jojoba If it wasn’t so costly Jojoba would be the top oil used for all bath hair & body wellness. Jojoba oil is a fantastic skin hydrator, moisturizer, and balancer because it mimics natural sebum, is rich in Vitamin E and antioxidants, and has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial properties, making it great for soothing dryness, controlling acne, reducing redness, fading fine lines. Learn more here. Castor What’s more, Olive oil will help to harden soap. However, to get a long lasting, hard and resilient bar that won’t turn to sludge you need Shea Butter, Palm & Castor oil. Castor is a valued ingredient in soap making for both the user’s skin health and the quality of the soap bar itself. Markedly it contributes to a rich, creamy lather, acts as a natural humectant to moisturize the skin, and adds conditioning and longevity. Palm To be sure, our palm oil is sustainably harvested by Palm Done Right farmers, certified RSPO. Palm oil hardens, makes a great lather in goat milk soap and is loaded with extremely moisturizing Vitamin E . These are just the main oils in our soap but the rest of the common 12 are all very beneficial Additional high end oils for Bespoke and Wellness specific blends include Black Cumin, Tamanu, Borage, Hemp, Babassu, Kukui and the very special Rosehips oil.  Clays Talk about Paleo! Clays have been used since the stone age to clean and protect the skin. Furthermore, added to goat milk they maintain natural moisture balance, leaving skin supple and soft. Significantly, Goat Milk & Clays or diatomaceous earth remove dead skin cells. This boosts collagen production, contributing to firmer and more elastic skin. The benefits of Diatomaceous earth are showcased in our Goat Milk Soap WELLNESS No.32 Detox Blend With Activated Charcoal & Essential Oils. The Key Wellness ingredient? Essential oils! Of course, we have talked a lot about essential oils before. We use only pressed or steam distilled EO to impart their therapeutic and restorative properties into all our products. BMS has Essential oil blend Roll-Ons with perfume grade amounts as well as Hydrolyzing Sprays, but everything starts with the essential oils used in our soaps. Partial list of the essential oils we use: Basil Bergamot Roman Chamomile Cedarwood atlas Cedarwood Himalayan Clary sage Clove Eucalyptus globulas Frankincense Ginger Grapefruit Helichrysum Lavender Lemongrass Lime Myrrh Orange Palo Santo Patchouli Petitgrain Rose geranium Rosemary Sage Holy Basil Sweet Basil Tangerine Tea tree oil Vetiver Ylang ylang Ingredients to avoid in Handmade Wellness Products Have you checked your labels lately? Shockingly, most soaps, shower gel, shampoo and conditioners you find on the shelves include a long list potentially harmful ingredients! On average a bar of soap or body wash contains 10+ chemicals! Avoid Sodium Lauryl Sulfate First of all, sulfates are a common ingredient in commercial soap and skincare products, why? Used as a degreaser and car cleaners, so unless you’re painted, avoid it! It removes the oils of your skin just like it does on an engine block. Your skin naturally protects you, but Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is just one of the numerous harsh chemicals that dries and irritates the skin. Avoid Parabens & Synthetic Preservatives Parabens are chemicals widely used as preservatives in many cosmetic products. Significantly, in the 1990’s scientists found that Parabens stay and build up in the body over time. Coupled with, Parabens contain agents that mimic estrogen when they enter the bloodstream. Chiefly, when our bodies have abnormal levels of estrogen, there is an increased potential for reproductive issues and links to cancer. Generally banned in other countries they compromise the integrity of the skin barrier & aggravate skin disorders such as eczema.  Avoid Synthetic Fragrances & Dyes Surprisingly, when you see “fragrance” or fragrance oil, it’s synthetic fragrances. Man-made scents added to skin care products in order to create stronger than natural smells. Not required to disclose their ingredients, including alcohols to harsh chemicals, and phthalates harmful to the body. Moreover, like synthetic fragrance, synthetic dyes are used to get unnatural colors. Mica is natural, but it’s clear or brown until a potentially harmful dye is added. These dyes can be especially troublesome those with skin sensitivities such as psoriasis and eczema. Too be sure, Bogue Milk Soap uses only natural plant pigments like chlorophyll and clays beneficial to the skin to color its Handmade Wellness Products and soaps.  Avoid GMO Oils As a matter of fact, we don’t fully know the effects of all the GMO food from the supermarket we ingest but to err on the side of cautious with it, as well as topically, seems prudent. Conversely, even if it says “handmade” soap it can contain petroleum based glycerin or GMO oils such as soybean, corn oil and canola oil (modified grapeseed). Without a doubt, many countries have banned GMOs because of the lack of information regarding the long-term effects of GMOs on the human body and environment.  All-natural-Farm to Bath for your Wellness To sum up, if you are in need of a skincare and wellness solution for a healthy body look no further, Bogue Milk Soap. Treat yourself to the wonders of Handmade Wellness Products, goat milk soap and essential oils to experience the transformative power all-natural has to offer. Your skin will thank you!
