Chamomile Goat Milk Soap BESPOKE Mountaineer blend with essential oils for dry & cracked skin
Inspired by cool mountain mornings, rugged trails, and the dry landscape surrounding the Ojai Valley, No.38 Mountaineer Goat Milk Soap is one of the richest moisturizing bars in our BESPOKE Collection. Fresh goat milk, apricot kernel, borage, rosehip and tamanu oils, mineral clay, and a complex blend of pure essential oils create a creamy, conditioning lather for skin that regularly feels dry, tight, or weather-exposed.
Roman chamomile, palmarosa, carrot seed, marjoram, juniper, myrrh, and frankincense unfold into an earthy botanical aroma that feels grounding rather than overpowering—bringing the character of the mountains into an everyday bathing ritual.
Mountaineer Goat Milk Soap – No.38 BESPOKE for Dry & Weather-Exposed Skin
Mountaineer was formulated for the realities of dry climates and outdoor living. Instead of relying on goat milk alone to define the bar, we pair it with a more specialized botanical oil blend that includes apricot kernel, borage, rosehip, and tamanu oils.
Mineral clay contributes to the smooth character of the lather, while the essential-oil composition brings together herbs, woods, florals, and resins. The result is a deliberately complex body-cleansing formula designed around both skin feel and the experience of using it.
Fresh Goat Milk & a Rich Conditioning Lather
Fresh goat milk forms the foundation of Mountaineer's creamy lather, working within the complete cold-process formula to create the rich, comfortable skin feel that distinguishes this bar from a more cleansing-focused body soap.
For skin already exposed to dry air, wind, sun, frequent washing, or outdoor activity, we think the goal of cleansing should be more thoughtful than simply pursuing a squeaky-clean finish. Mountaineer was formulated with that distinction in mind.
Apricot Kernel, Borage, Rosehip & Tamanu Oils
The botanical oil blend is what makes No.38 particularly interesting. Apricot kernel, borage, rosehip, and tamanu oils bring a level of formulation complexity more commonly associated with specialty skincare than an everyday bar of soap.
Rather than adding one fashionable oil simply for its name recognition, Mountaineer combines several botanical oils within the larger goat milk soap formula. Each becomes part of the balance between lather, cleansing, conditioning, hardness, and the finished feel of the bar.
Facialized Body Care, from the Formula Outward
One of the most interesting shifts in contemporary body care is the move toward facialized body care: bringing the ingredient attention and formulation sophistication once reserved primarily for facial skincare into products used below the neck.
Mountaineer fits naturally into that movement without needing to become something it isn't. This is still a rinse-off cold-process goat milk soap. But its combination of fresh goat milk, tamanu, borage, rosehip and apricot kernel oils, mineral clay, and a carefully constructed essential-oil blend reflects the same idea: body cleansing deserves thoughtful formulation too.
For us, sophisticated body care doesn't necessarily mean adding more steps to the bathroom shelf. Sometimes it means asking more of the cleanser itself.
Mineral Clay & the Texture of the Lather
Mineral clay adds another dimension to the formula, contributing to the smooth, silky character of Mountaineer's lather while complementing the rich botanical oil base.
Clay is often discussed primarily as a cleansing or mask ingredient, but in cold-process soap we also value what it contributes to the physical experience of the bar. In Mountaineer, it works within an intentionally conditioning formula rather than turning the soap into an aggressively cleansing treatment.
Roman Chamomile, Myrrh, Frankincense & Mountain Botanicals
Mountaineer's aroma is as layered as its botanical oil blend. Roman chamomile and palmarosa meet carrot seed, marjoram, and juniper before settling into the deeper resinous character of myrrh and frankincense.
These pure essential oils create an earthy, herbal aroma rather than a conventional perfume accord. We use essential oils rather than synthetic fragrance oils to scent our soaps; our Botanical Journal explores that distinction in Essential Oils vs. Fragrance Oils in Soap.
BESPOKE Body Care with a Sense of Place
Mountaineer belongs to our BESPOKE Collection because its formulation began with a particular environment and experience: mountain trails, dry California air, dusty hands, cool evenings, and skin that can feel noticeably different after a day outdoors.
The mountains surrounding the Ojai Valley are more than scenery behind the name. They helped define what we wanted this bar to be. A soap inspired by outdoor life in this landscape needed a rich botanical formula appropriate for the dry conditions and weather exposure that often come with it.
That is our idea of a product having a sense of place. Ojai isn't simply printed onto the story after the formula is finished; landscape, climate, plants, and the experience of living outdoors here help inform why products like Mountaineer exist in the first place.
After the Trail: Skin Feel & Daily Ritual
Work Mountaineer into a creamy lather and the essential oils begin to open with the warmth of the water. Herbal and botanical notes gradually settle into juniper, myrrh, and frankincense, creating an especially fitting ritual after hiking, gardening, camping, cycling, or simply spending a day outside.
The bar rinses clean while leaving skin with a smooth, conditioned feel. That makes Mountaineer particularly relevant when dry climate, outdoor exposure, or frequent bathing makes an aggressively cleansing bar feel like the wrong tool for the job.
It is also where the BESPOKE philosophy becomes most visible: formulate for the experience the product is meant to accompany rather than beginning with a generic soap base and building a story around it afterward.
A Rich Botanical Goat Milk Soap for Life Outdoors
No.38 Mountaineer brings fresh goat milk together with apricot kernel, borage, rosehip and tamanu oils, mineral clay, and a complex essential-oil blend in a deeply considered body soap for dry, weather-exposed skin—one shaped as much by formulation as by the landscape that inspired it.
